Bathing and Personal Care

Bathing and Personal Care

This may not be the appropriate category however it was the best I could find here. :)
I am struggling with my Mums personal care as we are unable to bathe her because of her resistance and getting her into the bath for safety reasons.
She is having "strip washes" when she allows us and although is better than nothing we are now looking at getting help.
Because of her anxiety it was suggested to us that we could go to a daycare centre that has assisted bathing facilities and she and her husband can spend the day, have lunch too. This we feel would keep the home environment happier for her.
I am now finding that there is nowhere in our immediate area of Essex that has that kind of facility.
Is there anyone here that has any knowledge for us please? Thank you in advance :)

Hi Moomintroll,

I'm aware of a few places that offers Bathing Services, however not sure if they are in your area:

Halstead Daycentre (Braintree District) 01787 476253
Warrens Daycentre (also Braintree District) 01787 476236
Knightswood Daycentre (Maldon District) 01621 774532

Hope this helps :-)

Kind regards

Karen

Hi Moomintroll. There are day centres around Essex that provide the sort of service you speak about. It may be worth speaking to your local Carers First CSAC team who will have more local information. I know that there are a couple of day centres in Clacton-on-Sea and in Colchester which are run by ECL. Millicent’s and Maryland’s. There could be care homes local to you that may provide this sort of service too. Good luck :)

My Wife suffers with alzheimers and I was finding great difficulty washing and cleaning her until I decided to ask for help from our local Council I have since been provided with a bath lift and carers who visit twice a day, morning and evening, to wash and clean her. A full shower in the morning and strip wash in the evening.
The assessments took some time to arrange but the care workers are really good.
I have now been promised a stairlift and wet room. If you are not in touch with your local Council please do so and don't worry about telling them about your financial situation

Hi, I work for Carers First.
That's great to hear things worked out well and the council were able to help...….lovely to read the care workers are really good too.
Good luck with the stairlift and wetroom 👍
