My friends a carer and I need advice

My friends a carer and I need advice
Fri Mar 8, 2019 16:10 PM
Hi

My friends been caring for his mum for last 10 yrs full time. She is in a bad way and likely to be taken into a home. To cap it off he is being taken to court by local council for unpaid rent, under £500.

I can lend money here and there, but it's not a viable solution. And I'm not sure how best to help him, or in what direction I can point him in.

So any advice would be appreciated

regards

Marvin

I would always recommend CAB for help and advice for money matters. Never a lender or a borrower be, it will only in tears down the line. Sorry if this sounds awful but you are doing the best for your friend by supporting them with finding help.

Thanks Mumslittlehelper

Yeah CAB was my first thought too. I think things may have escalated to a point I can no longer financially help him. I was lending bits here and there (30 here and there), but was always paid back. But what he needs is too much, talking 000 now

I don't want him to be out on the street. But now its at a point I can't really help. And it sucks

Good Evening

Thank you for your post, you sound like you are a very supportive friend and you have come to the right place for some advice.

Your friend is more than welcome to register with us to get some support in his role, and depending on what area he lives in we may have some staff who are able to give direct support around benefits.

For money worries your friend can also contact the Citizens Advice Bureau, and access the website www.turn2us.org.uk. Another website your friend could access is www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk.

I would also recommend he speaks to the housing authority direct to make a payment plan with them.

Our central number is 0300 303 1555, please pass this to him for some advise from one of our team. Also we will be able to advise what services are available locally for him to access.

Kind regards

Ellen
