Nusrat Sharif – Steptember Fundraising Event
Throughout September, Nusrat, a registered carer with Carers First has been partaking in the Steptember UK 2021 event and has chosen to raise funds and awareness for Carers First.
Steptember is a unique month-long stepping challenging throughout September. It is a fully inclusive event and encourages walkers, runners, and wheelchair users to take on a physical challenge, whilst also supporting the work of a preferred charity.
Nusrat is a carer for her husband with ill-health, and recognises the challenges that carers face when balancing a caring role and staying healthy and connected with their local community. Nusrat says: ‘I feel carers do a lot of work, there are a lot of unpaid carers around and they deserve recognition and support, as well as spreading awareness of Carers First’s services’.
Nusrat, who is completing 3,000 daily steps during September regularly attends our carers events, and say’s ‘taking time to network with other carers and learn from one another as well as enjoy the social side of the Carers First community is important’.
