This year, Carers Week is happening from 10-16 June. Carers Week is a campaign dedicated to raising awareness of carers, the issues they face, and the changes needed to truly recognise and support them. It also aims to help people who don't realise they have caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much needed support.
The theme for 2024 is "Putting Carers on the Map." In this general election year, we aim to ensure that carers voices are heard loud and clear and they get the support they need and deserve.
Out of nearly 2,000 carers surveyed by Carers First, a staggering 72% of carers felt they had support needs which were not being met.
When asked what would make their experiences better, 81% of carers said that being formally recognised as a carer in healthcare settings such as medical appointments would improve how supported they feel. The same number (81%) cited financial support, and 75% of respondents said the need for additional services for the person they care for.
Carers First have a number of online workshop and information sessions organised throughout the week. These range from an overview on benefits to coping with carer burnout. You do not need to be registered with us to attend but please ensure you book on through the relevant links.
Please note, the link below will take you through to our Lincolnshire page but these events are open to carers from all areas.
