We were delighted to see three carers win prizes in our Christmas Prize Draw alongside several of our supporters.
This was our second annual Christmas Prize Draw and we sold 28% more tickets than last year. The funds raised will help carers to feel less alone. It will go towards services including telephone befriending, giving a carer someone to talk to and wellbeing activities like Breathworks, an online relaxation session.
One winner was Charlie from Grantham who cares for her 83-year-old mum-in-law as well as two children who have disabilities. Charlie won two £100 Amazon vouchers and says,
“As a full-time carer, there isn’t much money to spend on luxuries like Christmas. Winning these vouchers means I can buy my children presents and make a nice Christmas meal for my family. Thank you so much.”
Charlie says Carers First has been a lifeline to her, helping her with funding to take her children on holiday, get respite through a gym membership and make new friends with carers through peer support groups.
The main prize of a trip to Lapland UK was won by Emma from Southend. She said,
“It’s such a shock, I only entered to show support for carers and Carers First and never expected to win! This is a wonderful early Christmas present for my family. We’ve never been to Lapland UK before, and it will make Christmas extra special next year.”
Emma and her family will enjoy a unique, magical adventure at Lapland UK next Christmas with Elves and Reindeer and fun activities suitable for the whole family.
We had some lovely reactions from other prize winners including:
“Wow that's amazing, thank you so much! I've been wanting to take my daughter there for a while, she'll love it.” Jo from Lincoln won the family tickets to Twycross Zoo
“Oh my gosh, I’m really happy.” Syreeta from Rochester won a £100 Amazon voucher
Thank you for helping us to support carers to feel less alone this Christmas and into the New Year.
