Carers First was pleased to attend the Day-Mer Arts and Culture Festival on Saturday 3 July to help us reach more carers from Turkish and Kurdish communities.
Day-Mer is a non-profit organisation, building unity and solidarity between Turkish, Kurdish and all other workers and communities in London. It is Hackney's longest running festival and attracts thousands of visitors.
Carers First is passionate and dedicated to reaching carers from all communities and helping all to access the support we offer.
Making Carers Count Project Lead, Zeynep Binboga, ensured that we were able to provide banners and leaflets translated into Turkish, to help Turkish speaking carers access our information. She said:
“It has been great working with Day-Mer to reach more carers. We hope that by translating Carers First leaflets and information we can make support services more accessible to Turkish and Kurdish speaking communities.”
We were able to speak to carers from a wide range of situations and backgrounds and had a fantastic time watching the incredible performances and inspirational speeches. We look forward to attending next year and to seeing more carers at similar events throughout the rest of this year.
