As a young carer, you might already be helping to manage your family’s budget by doing the shopping and making bill payments. So, it’s never too early to begin talking about how you can develop good money management skills to help make your household’s money go further.
Considering that everyone is facing higher living costs, it’s vitally important that as a young carer, you develop good money management skills for now and the future. To support you to manage finances as a young carer, Carers First is working in partnership with The Money Heroes programme, to support young carers aged 5 – 14 years to improve your financial awareness to become a Money Hero.
Money Heroes is an award-winning free programme from Young Money, supported by HSBC UK, seeking to transform financial education for children. The programme, which will be delivered by Carer Support Advisers at Carers First, using the Money Heroes resources, provides simple financial information to help you to plan and manage a budget to keep track of spending; and to make comparisons between prices when deciding which is best value for money.
Money Heroes further aims to help you as a young carer to understand why we should all be critical thinkers when it comes to shopping, thinking carefully about how we use our money, understanding the important role money plays in our lives and how to make responsible spending decisions based on our needs and wants.
