Carers First will be opening a new permanent residence to support carers at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.

The drop-in centre will be available to support the wellbeing of care partners and provide practical advice and guidance.

Carers First staff will be available to offer a wide range of services and resources in a friendly, welcoming environment.

Emma Summers, Carers First Service Manager for Essex, said: “At Carers First we are proud to be celebrating this Carers Rights Day by opening a new permanent residence at Broomfield Hospital to provide information, guidance and support to Essex carers.

“This year’s theme for Carers Rights Day is ‘recognising your rights’, and we aim to help carers to understand their rights, and to access the support available to them.

“Our new drop-in centre will be key to achieving this by offering carers a safe space to speak to our team of staff when they find themselves needing information, guidance, or simply a friendly face to speak to.”

The drop-in centre will be found in the atrium, alongside Macmillan’s information and support centre.

The centre will be opened on Thursday, November 21st and will then be available every Friday from 10 am to 4pm.

Carers First can support carers with information on the support available in their local community, advice on benefits or as a working carer, access to a statutory carers assessment or events and activities locally that can give them a short break from caring.
