Carers First is excited to announce the launch of the Medway Young Adult Carer Mentoring Pilot. This new programme pairs young adult carers in Medway with professional mentors, who have been matched based on shared interests, skill sets, and availability. Read on to find out how you can join.
If you are a young adult carer aged 16 to 25, living in Medway, and are interested in joining the programme to be matched with a mentor, please complete the short form below and a member of the team will be in touch.
The program starts with its first two cohorts in May 2024. Each cohort will comprise twelve young adult carers aged 16 to 25. Over ten weeks they will benefit from one-hour online sessions with their professional mentors who have been matched based on shared interests, skill sets, and availability.
While the response to our call for mentors has been overwhelming, the journey has only just begun. With Legal & General already pledging the support of 10 mentors and additional resources, the momentum is palpable. These resources promise to augment the employability skills of our young carers, encompassing vital areas like CV writing, interviewing, and presentations.
We are looking for inspiring and passionate professionals who can commit to mentoring sessions over a ten-week period. As a mentor, you will receive ongoing support with access to training from our young carers team whilst you support our dedicated young individuals.
Your expertise, regardless of your professional standing, can make an indelible mark on the lives of these young carers. Besides mentoring, the only commitment we seek is your participation in online training sessions facilitated by the dedicated team.
