Carers First has launched online support articles for carers looking after someone with dementia, covering topics ranging from the impact on your day to day life, how to respond to challenging behaviours and The Herbert Protocol.

Many people with dementia will experience memory problems and issues with reasoning and other thinking skills. This can mean that carers looking after someone with dementia may carry out everyday tasks like washing the dishes or assisting with eating and drinking habits. But, it could also involve more complex caring tasks such as helping someone with getting a diagnosis or helping with their finances.

The dementia support articles have been developed in co-production with carers who understand what you may be going through and the challenges you could encounter as your caring role develops. If you are looking after someone with dementia, please use these articles to help you in your caring role, and don't be afraid to ask for further support from your local carer support organisation if you are struggling.
