On Sunday 21 May, a team of Lincoln City legends took on a Anglian Water XI to raise funds for Carers First at the LNER Stadium.
Over 250 supporters turned out to watch the match in the warm Lincoln sunshine. The fans enjoyed food and drink and cheered on the three lucky supporters taking part in a half-time penalty competition. Two supporters won a cash prize and signed Lincoln City shirt in the 50:50 raffle. The match raised over £1,000 for Carers First.
The Lincoln City legends side featuring former professional players including Terry Hawkridge, Terry Fleming and Gavin Gordon ran out convincing 11-1 winners. However, the biggest cheer of the day was reserved for a spirited Anglian Water team who earnt their late consolation goal.
Andy Watts, Director of Income and Communications at Carers First says:
“We really appreciate the support of the Lincoln City legends and Anglian Water in organising this charity fixture to raise funds for carers. Thank you for all those who came out to show their support.”
The fixture was organised by the Lincoln City Former Players Association and Anglian Water who are a partner of Carers First. All proceeds from the event will support unpaid carers in Lincoln as well as the Former Players Association chosen charity, Lincoln City Foundation Extra Time Hub.
