After receiving support from Carers First himself, Roger decided to sign up as a volunteer Walk Leader - that was 10 years ago.
“These walks are a bit of exercise and social contact for carers who don’t get out to see people much. It’s a chance for them to unload, talk about the world in general and manage the stress that comes with being a carer.
I tailor the walk to the carers’ abilities and it always includes a stop-off at a local cafe. I’d really recommend becoming a walk leader - anyone can do it, you just need some sense of direction and it helps to be a sociable kind of person”
