A team of volunteers from Carers First were delighted to attend Lincoln City Football Club’s LNER stadium for their match against Morecambe on Saturday 19 November to help raise money and awareness for unpaid carers.
This was our second match day collection as part of our year-long charity of the year partnership with the club.
Following generous donations from those attending the match, we are thrilled to announce we raised £726.97. These funds will help support activities for carers in Lincolnshire to get a much needed break from their caring role.
We were delighted to be joined at the match by 20 unpaid carers whose tickets were kindly gifted by the club. One of these carers was Paul who looks after his wife who has cancer. Paul says,
"As a new carer, I would like to thank Lincoln City and Carers First for the opportunity to attend the recent match at Lincoln's LNER stadium where I was able to enjoy taking a break from my caring duties and talking to other like-minded carers. I have already signed up for other events Carers First have organised."
It’s estimated there are 79,000 people like Paul in Lincolnshire providing care for a relative or friend. We believe every one of those people deserves the support necessary to thrive in their role.
Andy Watts, Director Income and Communications at Carers First, said:
“Our partnership with Lincoln City has directly helped carers in Lincoln to get a much needed break from their caring role, as well as raise vital awareness of our work. If anyone is looking after someone who would struggle to manage without them, please get in touch to find out how we can help you.”
Thank you to our volunteers who helped to fundraise on the day, this wouldn’t have been possible without you. And, of course, a huge thank you to everyone who donated.
